Republicans for Lord

Speaking as a lifelong Republican I want every Republican to understand the choice that Anna Lord offers to voters in House District 21.

First, Anna is a fiscally responsible individual. She believes that money provided to the government is a trust from the taxpayer - to be budgeted and spent wisely.

"I have worked with Anna Lord in a variety of volunteer positions in Ute Pass Elementary School, where our children went to school. In 2000, Anna took over the after school enrichment program, which she ran for three years. She ran this voluntary program without school funds to create additional artistic, foreign language, athletic and science opportunities for public school children, home schooled children and parents. Under her leadership, the after school program grew in the number of classes offered, the number of children who were able to participate, and the number of scholarships that were available for financially disadvantaged children. This growth took place through grant application, recruitment of community talent and careful fiscal management, rather than relying on any funds from the school district. Her energy, enthusiasm were matched only by her organizational skills. I enthusiastically supported her decision to run for the Manitou Springs Board of Education, and equally enthusiastically support her decision to run for the Colorado House of Representatives."

Anna believes in the responsibility of the community to the individual and, just as importantly, the responsibility of the individual to the community. As one other Republican who has known Anna states:

"I am a Republican who endorses Anna Lord for Colorado House District 21. I taught two of Anna's children and had the opportunity to experience the dedication she has for accepting responsibility as an active participant in her children's education. She exemplified the partnership we strive for between schools and home in accomplishing a quality educational experience for her children. I also had an opportunity as a teacher to observe the dedication she brought to her position as a school board member for Manitou Springs School District. She and I have had numerous discussions and while we didn't always agree, I knew that before Anna made ANY decision, she listened to and weighed all aspects of an issue. This, I believe, is what makes her the best candidate for Colorado House District 21."

Republican and retired teacher

Anna has a history of public service, and is raising our children to be responsible, compassionate citizens as well. In 2003, Anna was encouraged to run for the Manitou Springs Board of Education. She has served admirably for the last three years. As the former president of the Manitou School Board says;

"Serving on the Manitou Springs District 14 Board of Education with Anna Lord was a pleasure. Anna and I worked together for two years in public service and we share a passion for children, our community and our state. Anna and I also share core values of honesty and integrity. I support Anna because I have watched her work intensely for our school district and community; diligently educating herself to the responsibilities of a public servant and providing intelligent, compassionate ideas and results. I will be voting for Anna Lord for House District 21 State Representative and I urge you to vote for her as well!"

Deborah Lowery
Republican and Past president of District 14 Board of Education

Anna has been recognized as a team player of distinction in every role. In 2005, she was encouraged to run for, and was elected to, the Executive Board of the Colorado Association of School Boards ("CASB"). As a CASB Director, she voluntarily organized meetings for both Republican Rep. Keith King and Democratic Rep. Michael Merrifield, the two state representatives whose districts are included in School District 14, with not just her board but as many school board members from Southern Colorado as could attend. She felt that it was important for members of both parties to have access to school board members and vice versa. Her actions proved that her concern for the best interests of her community are more important that party agendas. Her ability and willingness to work across the "aisle" on behalf of the children of Colorado is exactly the ability we need in our State Legislature.

"Anna Lord will be great as the Representative for House District 21. She is a fiscal conservative that believes in government that is accountable. Knowing Anna, I have found her platform to be representative for all. She works with a great deal of common sense, shows strong organization and leadership skills and is fair and equitable with her decisions. With a well-rounded knowledge of our states needs and issues, I believe Anna can continue to focus her efforts and energies towards improving public education. Our state will continue to strive towards high achievement and accountability within the public education system with Anna and her common sense approach at the helm. It is with great pleasure and confidence that I support Anna Lord for House District 21 Representative."

Republican and President, Harrison District 2, Board of Education

But most importantly, it has been the ability of Anna to listen to and discuss concerns with members of our community without the party barrier. Whether people have known Anna for years, or met her at their front door when she came through their neighborhood, they find her intelligent, articulate and willing to discuss the issues that affect them the most.

"Linda and I are endorsing Anna Lord. We, like other Republicans in District 21, are convinced that she best represents our values. Anna is articulate and well-versed on the issues facing our Community, Colorado Springs and Colorado. She works hard; does her homework; digs out the facts and arrives at workable solutions. Although party affiliation is important- qualifications, capability and dedication are the driving factors in our selection of the candidate we choose to support. Anna Lord is our choice. We hope that you will also support her candidacy and vote for her in November."

Fred H. Wisely
Republican, President of the Broadmoor Bluffs Homeowner's Association

"I have been a registered republican for many years. However, I have observed over the years that the local republican party has little tolerance for those of us who are fiscally conservative, socially more moderate and who believe that there really should be a separation of church and state... There are many Republicans who would like to see our party be more accepting of diverse opinions and positions. A good place to start would be to elect Anna Lord to represent us. This would clearly send a message to the Republican establishment that simply running the party is not sufficient experience to be elected to a state office. Based upon what I know of Ms. Lord's background, she appears well qualified to represent a moderate constituency and help set policy with representatives from both sides of the aisle.

I sincerely believe that Anna offers a moderate choice for House District 21 Republicans. She is someone who cares deeply about the need for public representatives to listen to and truly hold their constituents' interests paramount. I urge you to vote for her as your representative.
